Lampworking is a type of glasswork where a torch or lamp is used to melt glass. Once in the molten state the glass is formed by blowing or shaping with tools and hand movement. Early Lampworking was done in the flame of a oil lamp,with the artist blowing air into the flame through a pipe.Modern Day artist use propane or  natural gas.
Lampworking differs from glass blowing in that glassvblowing uses a furnace as a primary heat source.
