Jewelry Artist

Russell Sizemore was born in Eastern Ky and was raised by his two wonderful parents.

In the late sixties he enlisted in the Air Force at the height of the Viet Nam War. He served for 4 years.

When he got out of the Air Force he met his beautiful wife Cathy. They were married and have been together ever since. They have two children and three grandchildren.

Russ has always had a love for art, and is very good with his hands. For years he designed and made custom rugs and wall hangings. This art form he inherited from his mother who designed and made quilts that were themselves works of art.

When he decided it was time to retire he knew he could not sit around doing nothing. Years earlier he had purchased a hematite necklace that he really liked but over the years it broke multiple times . Each time he was able to save most of the stones (which was itself a minor miracle) finally he thought ( I can fix this myself).This necklace he still wears today and is one of his personal favorites.

So he went to a crafts store ,bought some wire and began to practice his craft.

This is where the seeds were planted that became BBHadley Creations. The name came to him in a moment of reflection and the desire to leave a legacy for his three grandchildren.

Brooks his first born grandson, Blake his first granddaughter,and second and by no means  least his granddaughter Hadley.That is how BBHadley got its name.

Russ wanted his jewelry to be one of a kind. He discovered the over 200 recognized gemstones that he uses as well as bone and fossils .

He wanted his jewelry to be (well made and afforadable) he uses Stainless Steel which is durable and affordable and does not  tarnish along with Sterling Silver which is also durable but needs polishing occasionlly. Rarely he will use antique silver if it is unique and he first treats with anti tarnish solution.

Russ has always had a fascination with stones and their history which is as old as civilization itself. Back when he heard and read about stones and their signifiance from Bible Stories etc.

For example did you know that jasper(one of his favorites) is the 12th stone in Aaron's Breastplate and also the first founation wall of the city (New Jerusalem), is constructed of Jasper.As described in the Book of Revelation.

Stones like Jade , Amber,and Opal have been used as means of trade and commerce throughout history. ( you need only to consider  these three stones and their history  to become hooked).

Now he stays up late at night making his jewelry that is unique and unlike any other.

Cathy was born and raised in Greenville S.C.

When she was a young teenager her parents moved to Eastern Kentucky to do missionary work.

At the time Cathy did not want to leave her friends and family,but later when she met her to be husband she knew exactly why her parents felt the calling to move to Kentucky. If they had not moved to Eastern Kentucky, she would not met her wonderful husband, Russ and would never had her children and grandchildren,and life would have been completely different.

Cathy has been a very successful property manger for Merrick Place Apts ( a premier property in Lexington) she has worked for Towne Properties for twenty five years, and loves it.

She also loves helping her husband and his success with  his Handmade Jewelry .
